Movement Features: Joe Bradley

“I’ve been coming to the festival since the first year it started. I worked in security but had no idea really what was taking place down there. Everyone was so happy, vibing out, hugging and dancing like nobody was watching. I decided then that after my next shift I would be taking the rest of the weekend off and joining in on the fun.

I began volunteering my time as a member of the Street Team – hanging posters and handing out flyers at local shows and events. Within a few years I was asked to lead the Street Team, a position I’ve been honored to continue working on.

The reasons I come back every year are simple: I enjoy seeing artists I’ve grown to love evolve year in and out; same with the technology and production quality. My love for this music grows more and more each year.

There have been so many amazing performances that I have seen throughout the years, it’s hard to narrow down to just one. In recent years, The RZA, Method Man, Richie Hawtin, Dâm-Funk and Amp Fiddler with Will Sessions have stood out, but I will never forget seeing Mos Def rock the stage twice and Redman perform as a late surprise addition.

I’m really excited for this year’s lineup and looking forward to seeing Mathew Jonson, Recondite, Factory Floor, Mount Kimbie, Leon Vynehall and Mr. Fingers.” -Joe Bradley, #MovementDetroit Street Team Leader.
