Dance music is literally in Kweku Saunderson’s blood. The genre-bending producer-singer- songwriter was born in Brooklyn and raised under the tutelage of his uncle, the world-renowned pioneer of Detroit Techno, Kevin Saunderson. Under his uncle’s wing, Saunderson spent years touring Europe, sharing stages with House and Techno legends like Carl Cox and Derrick May. Though his early output was remix-focused techno production under the moniker Glorious Gift, Saunderson now turns his attention to songwriting under his own name, bringing his unique blend of House, Funk, Pop, EDM, and R&B to the fore. The rst single to feature his own vocals, “Do Us” was released in August 2016 to critical acclaim. The slow-burning futuristic Dance track garnered praise in the EDM world as well as on Drake’s OVO Sound Radio show, where the track was hand-selected by Drake’s manager Oliver El-Khatib for its radio premiere. In its rst month, “Do Us” amassed over a quarter million plays across platforms. As a follow-up, Saunderson released his take on Frank Ocean’s “Blonde” in the form of an 8 track EP of house remixes, cheekily titled “Brunett.” Within days of that release, selections could be heard on BBC Radio 1Xtra, hand-picked by DJ Jamz Supernova.
